Business Analyst, Fashion Retail (Jakarta)
Job Designation: Business Analyst – General Management
Reporting to: Commercial Director
Work Location: Jakarta
Job Purpose:
This position will play a key role in analyzing retail performance data, both online and offline, and provide actionable insights to Commercial Director that support strategic and operational decision-making to drive revenue growth, stock efficiency, profitability, and improved stores performance to ensure sustainability and business growth.
Responsibilities:
- Sales Performance Analysis
- Monitor and analyse daily, weekly, and monthly sales by store, region, brand, and product category (men, women, kids, NFT, etc.)
- Track KPIs such as:
- Sales growth
- Like-for-like (LFL) performance
- ATV (Average Transaction Value)
- UPT (Units per Transaction)
- Conversion rate
- Gross margin
- Identify underperforming stores or categories and recommend corrective action
- Inventory & Stock Optimization
- Monitor size curve performance (critical in footwear retail)
- Support replenishment and allocation planning per store cluster
- Provide markdown and clearance recommendations to manage aging inventory
- Minimize stock-outs on best sellers and core item.
- Product & Assortment Analysis
- Evaluate performance by:
- Style/SKU
- Size
- Price range
- Seasonal collections
- Support buying and merchandising teams with performance insights
- Recommend assortment adjustments per store format (mall, high street, outlet)
- Evaluate performance by:
- Promotion & Campaign Evaluation
- Analyse promotional impact on sales uplift and margin
- Evaluate discount strategy effectiveness
- Provide post-mortem analysis
- Forecasting & Budget Support
- Support seasonal sales forecasting (Ramadan, back-to-school, year-end peak, etc.)
- Assist in setting store-level sales targets
- Conduct variance analysis between forecast vs. actual performance
- Reporting & Management Support
- Develop and maintain dashboards for retail management
- Present insights and recommendations to Commercial Director / Retail Director
- Ensure data accuracy across POS and inventory systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data analysis or a related analytical role within retail or FMCG sectors.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen with a proven ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Experience working cross-functionally with merchandising, finance, retail/ operations and supply chain teams.
Required Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions such as Pivot Tables, lookup, and data modeling tools.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and ERP platforms; experience with applications like SAP, Oracle, or similar systems is preferred.
- Ability to analyze large datasets and create performance reports segmented by product category and sales channel.
- Strong reporting and forecasting skills to monitor stock coverage, sales trends, and obsolescence risks.
- Effective communication and presentation skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and management.
