ERP Developer (RPG Programmer)
Location: Primarily UMN (mobile role as required)
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced ERP Developer (RPG Programmer) to join their internal IT team and support the development and enhancement of their in-house ERP system, Orion, hosted on IBM iSeries.
The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams and internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, develop ERP solutions, and ensure the system continues to meet evolving business needs. This position is part of a broader IT delivery team covering ERP, infrastructure, application development, PMO, and data & analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with technical and functional teams to understand business requirements and define system enhancements.
- Develop and customize ERP solutions based on business needs using RPG and IBM iSeries technologies.
- Prepare technical documentation for system developments and customizations.
- Conduct unit testing and system integration testing to ensure application quality and reliability.
- Provide technical support and assist in resolving ERP-related issues when required.
- Work closely with internal users to improve business processes and optimize ERP functionality.
- Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in ERP development, preferably within manufacturing or distribution industries.
- Strong programming experience using:
- IBM iSeries (AS/400)
- RPG (RPG IV & Free Format)
- CL
- ILE
- SQL
- Hands-on experience throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Strong understanding of ERP business modules, including:
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- General Ledger (GL)
- Sales
- Purchasing
- Warehouse Management
- Inventory Management
- Reporting
- Good understanding of IT infrastructure and database administration.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio).
