Job Overview:
The Production Engineer is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes to improve production efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance product quality. This position works closely with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, new production technologies, and corrective actions based on ongoing process monitoring. The role ensures full compliance with safety regulations and quality standards across all production activities, identifies opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization, and provides technical support to production teams by resolving process and technical issues to maintain stable and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Production Engineer manages daily composite production processes to achieve output, quality, and delivery targets while ensuring compliance with SOPs and critical process parameters such as resin ratios, curing time, temperature, and pressure.
- The role monitors material efficiency to reduce scrap and rework, analyzes bottlenecks related to mold utilization, cycle time, manpower, and machine availability, and implements process improvements.
- The Production Engineer provides hands-on mechanical support by troubleshooting equipment, molds, jigs, fixtures, and tooling, and works closely with Maintenance on preventive maintenance, breakdown analysis, and reliability improvement.
- The role supports multi-shift operations by ensuring consistency between shifts, coordinates with Planning and Warehouse to ensure material availability and WIP control and collaborates with QA/QC to resolve process- and equipment-related defects through root cause analysis.
- The Production Engineer supports new product trials, mold changes, and process validation, ensures compliance with HSE standards related to chemical handling and machine safety, prepares production and downtime reports, updates process and mechanical documentation, and supports operator training to ensure stable and repeatable production performance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven experience as a production engineer.
- In-depth knowledge of large-scale manufacturing including processes, production systems, and quality control.
- Proficiency in process optimization, lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with production teams.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality and efficient production processes.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to make decisions in dynamic manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
