Jobs in a PVC extrusion plant involve various roles focused on the manufacturing process, quality control, maintenance, and overall production management.
 
Job Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Extrusion Machine Operator/Technician
    • Machine Setup and Operation: Setting up extrusion lines for production, including installing dies and configuring machine controls (temperature, pressure, screw speed, vacuum).
    • Monitoring Production: Continuously monitoring the process to ensure smooth operation, correct material shaping, and consistent quality.
    • Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving operational issues such as uneven output, material jams, or equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
    • Quality Control: Performing regular visual and dimensional quality checks on products (e.g., using calipers/micrometers) to ensure they meet specifications and recording quality data.
    • Material Handling: Loading raw PVC pellets/materials into hoppers and ensuring a steady supply of materials to the machine.
    • Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of machine settings, production output, and quality control data.
    • Safety and Maintenance: Adhering to safety guidelines, performing routine cleaning of the machine, dies, and work area, and conducting minor maintenance or reporting equipment issues. 
  2. Production Supervisor/Lead Operator
    • Supervises the daily activities of the production unit, often overseeing multiple lines. 
    • Team Management: Managing and coordinating the work of operators and assistants on the shift.
    • Scheduling: Overseeing production schedules and ensuring efficiency targets are met.
    • Training: Training new employees on processes, equipment, and safety procedures.
    • Problem Solving: Assisting operators with complex troubleshooting and decision-making regarding product quality or process improvements. 
  3. Material Handler
    • Responsible for the movement and management of materials within the plant. 
    • Inventory Management: Maintaining inventory of raw materials and finished products.
    • Logistics: Operating forklifts or other lifting equipment to move materials to and from storage and production lines.
    • Mixing: Weighing and mixing specific resins, colorants, and chemicals according to formulation cards.
    • Organization: Keeping storage and production areas clean and organized. 
  4. Maintenance Technician/Mechanic:
    • Ensures all machinery and equipment are in safe and efficient working condition. 
    • Repairs: Performing routine and emergency repairs on mechanical and electrical systems.
    • Preventive Maintenance: Implementing and conducting preventive maintenance programs to prevent breakdowns.
    • Installation: Installing new machines or equipment components when necessary. 
  5. Quality Control (QC) Inspector/Technician
    • Focuses specifically on ensuring products meet required standards. 
    • Inspections: Inspecting manufactured products for defects (visual and instrumental checks).
    • Testing: Conducting tests on product samples to verify quality and performance.
    • Documentation and Reporting: Documenting inspection results and reporting any quality issues to management or the production team. 
  6. Process/Manufacturing Engineer (Formulation)
    • Involved in the design and optimization of the manufacturing process. 
    • Process Optimization: Developing and improving stable and capable extrusion processes.
    • R&D Support: Assisting with research and development of new products or materials.
    • Technical Support: Providing technical guidance and support to production teams on complex problems. 

Job Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience in PVC Industry
